Education Work
I am passionate about using new technology to bring exciting, innovative techniques and technologies into teaching of all kinds. Ideally, education should be an exciting mix of hands-on, well-produced media, interactives, and any other elements which can add to the pleasure and success of the learning environment.
Currently, I am employed by Cornell University as an Instructional Designer, which allows me to work with faculty members from across campus to develop online, hybrid, and other innovative pedagogies.
I have also created online courses, written a traditional 'on-paper' book, developed an assessment/reward program for riders, and helped produce an award-winning educational DVD. A brief overview of some of these projects is below.
Educational Media Production
Creator: Squishy Circuits Online Teaching Resource
Developed content, design, and assessment materials for this non-linear educational site. Implemented using PHP, CSS, and HTML5.

Course Designer: Video and Audio Production for Educators
Designed an online learning module for The Knowledge Network for Innovations in Learning and Teaching (KNILT). Used the ADDIE method to develop a mini-course for educators, created all of the content from scratch, and implemented course using Wikitext within a MediaWiki site.
Course Developer: The Art of Horsemanship
Developed a full, on-line distance education course for young riders teaching the art of horsemanship, including safety, history, equine behaviour and anatomy, etc.
Course elements included video segements, interactive animation, image-based assessments, etc. Implemented in Moodle.
Creator: Video4Education
A website for educators, offering advice, current research, and interesting finds on the topic of video use in educational settings. Created site using WordPress platform.
Author: Young Rider's Workbook
Introductory english riding book for children and teens, 102 pages long with 160 photos and illustrations, with a 4.5 star rating on Amazon.com. Created book from scratch, including all writing and supervision of photography.
Associate Producer: 40 Fundamentals of English Riding Book & DVD
Production planning and management of Amazon best-selling, award-winning 90 minute equine DVD and related photography for companion book.
Creating production schedule including 1500 shots, 6 shooting days with multiple riders and horses. Post production management of digital asset database.
Producer/Interviewer: Dressage4Kids Video Interviews
Produced over 150 video interviews (over three years) for non-profit equestrian education organization, Dressage4Kids. The organization sponsors equestrian events and education workshops nationwide for thousands of young riders, instructors, and other equine professionals.
Creator/Author: Achievement Medal Program
Developed five-level Achievement Medal Program, including supporting handbook and assessment materials. The program covers all riding and basic knowledge for becoming a well-rounded beginner through intermediate horse person.
